- LITTLE SHOP REVISITED ONCE AGAIN
It's review time! Our man on the scene, Andy Roughton
They say that everything in the universe is cyclical, well I say it anyway, actually I've never said it, until now, and I haven't really said it now I've written it, well typed it actually, anyway so it was with the UHSUDS musical 1996. more... - IT'S FRIDAY KNIGHT AT LAST
THE DATE for the Premiere of SIMON HOPES' new film, 'FRIDAY KNIGHT" has finally been set for Saturday July 20th. After working on the film for nearly two years the moment of release is nearly here, and for Simon it probably couldn't have come soon enough....
"I'm knackered", he says, "but I'd probably do it all over again". Simon has been backed up by an immense amount of loyalty and hard work from other members of the UAC. Phil Miller who described his role as "Chief Goafer/ The guy who made the tea almost every weekend - and I held the boom a lot", had this to say, "The film is looking great, the cuts I've seen really move, It's been redigitised to get rid of that video look. It now comes over as hard, rough and atmospheric, its almost got a film quality about it". A lot of that is due to the work of Gary Stevenson & Dave Waldron and their digital Video editing suite. "We must have cut about 1 hour out of the time. We had no choice really even though it was a shame to have to put a lot of actors on the cutting room floor. The film now stands at about 21/4 hours". The sound effects are equally as spectacular, courtesy of Gaz and Dave. "There's a lot of original music to come out of this film as well. We've used people like Chris Rae to do the love theme. Daniel Goodger has composed the score and incidental music, and some of the other music has come from the Well Studio". Phil reckons, "All in all the Entertainment value of the film has gone through the roof, there's action a plenty and I feel people will be pleasantly surprised". more... - Contents

Figuratively of course. Our Man in the movies! Sion Hughes, veteran of the Drama Society and esteemed Madhatter, wound his way into the film industry recently with a job and credit on one of the latest Hollywood spending sprees 'LOCH NESS." Starring Ted Danson as a Scotsman(!?) or an American Professor or something, thankfully Sion's involvement with the film wasn't on the casting side. Anyway, in a quick phone interview Madhatters tried to collar him to spill the beans about, what ever it was he was supposed to be spilling beans for in the first place. But he wasn't in so we rang up Gary Stevenson and asked him some questions instead.
MH: So Sion, what was your involvement in the film? Sorry, Gary what was Sion's involvement with the film? more... - Editorial Panel

- The Madhatters Annual Reunion Event for 1996
Mediaeval Madhatters Banquet in Cornwall Saturday Nov 30th, 1996 AD
Cornwall, Land of Myth, Magic & Mystery. Land of majestic and breathtaking scenery, oddly named villages and Ginsters pasties is set to host the next Madhatters Reunion. Where? The sleepy fishing village of Port Isaac on the North Cornwall Coast. Madhatters thought it was an excellent idea if we could all go somewhere (where it was reasonably cheap) that everyone could chill out, stay over and have a great evening without having to think about driving home or any other concerns. We decided to choose to have a Medieval Banquet 'cos its a great way to spend an evening, as we are all luvvies at heart its also a legitimate opportunity to dress again up in some kinky gear and enjoy ourselves. more...

Thanks to everyone for making it a great night. Sorry to those who couldn't come, they'll be plenty of chances with the events this year, especially the main reunion on Sat Nov 30th in Cornwall. Finally, some Madhatters may not have got round to paying their £5 entrance fee or £3 guest fee actually on the night. Whilst we're not going to get heavy or send the boys round yet, it does mean that alas some parties are a teeny bit out of pocket. If you didn't pay on the night Madhatters would be grateful if you could send your dosh to MH HQ.

Well here it is, for those of you who came and for those of you who didn't. The first annual Madhatters Reunion was a splendid affair. With food, entertainment, music, and a finely presented history of the Drama Society from 1989-95. The only bad thing was that it stopped at 11pm. Here are some of the best pictures we could lay our hands on and to supplement, Jo Litt takes us through her version of the evenings events...

THE WELL Studio in the shape of Dave Patrick and Simon Burges has just recorded and completed its second compilation CD entitled 'VISION'. The CD is an eclectic mix of 10 bands from around Hertfordshire and beyond.
VISION features many of the bands from the first CD and indeed tracks from or featuring many Madhatters. Of note are Nathan Dawe, from Smokin'Zone, (mainstay Bass player for UHDS), Steve Diver, Stuart Ellerker (main Sax man from Grease to Little Shop), Gary Sherin from Lump and Otis, featuring Dave P, Si Burges and a guest vocalist in the form of Rob Slinger. I guess all that drunken harmonising around the piano during 'The Boyfriend' wasn't in vain! A recent party was had at Wellands to celebrate the release of VISION with four of the bands playing an 'unplugged session' in the front room. more...

- ICELAND'S WELSH RARE-BID
Iceland, the well known island and indiginator of The Magnussons, has put in a bid for the coveted title "Capital of Wales". The position, which is up for tender in 1997, has been hotly contested, with applications from Guyana, Chad, and a consortium of paper mills in Slough. All of the competing groups have refuted claims that the smooth running of the country will be affected if the administrative centre is more than twelve minutes' walk from the border. "We are prepared for the possibility that we may have to move the country at a later date" said an Icelandic spokesman, but the man from Chad was quick to point out "you'll never get it past Scotland." The announcement from the Icelandic government comes just days after a Northampton man became Welsh in a raffle. However, a late entry from Euro-pop maestro Johnny Logan may yet bury the competition, after knocking them for six. Irish tunemeister Johnny, 63, was lowered into the meeting in a bucket, before performing a brand new song, composed specially for the event; 'Thank God I'm Not Welsh'. The lyrics of the song spell out Johnny's proposals, which seem to include building a fire extinguisher factory, and painting a large dog on the Brecon Beacons.

The Zimmer frame could be a thing of the past if the Japanese radio-ham Tyashu Nakafishkake has his way. He has managed to miniaturise the long-standing support device and etch it onto a Silicon Chip. "The possibilities are ended" said Tyashu. "Just imagine; we can now fit four million Zimmer Frames into half the area of two small mice. At last the elderly will benefit from this new age of miniaturisation and mass production." Mr. Nakafishkake is twelve.

CHICKEN is still the most popular soup in the world closely followed by Tomato. This information can probably be found on the Intenet somewhere. Yes, love it, loath it or ignore it, the Superhighway is perhaps one of the best mediums for keeping in contact courtesy of the electronic postman and his trustee cyberdog. Despite there being an awful lot of nerds, perverts, freaks and the like out there (some of whom are listed below), Many Madhatters are finding that they have succumbed to the global revolution in digital communication. Therefore a list hence of 'net folk' who I'm sure would love to hear from others, especially to stop them doing what they're supposed to be doing in the first place is supplied below.
