Reaching the grand old age of 25 this summer, and therefore only having a year to get a working permit in Australia, I figured it was time to pack all my useful belongings into a small bag and follow the sun.
The planned trip starts on August 4th (already well underway!) just before midnight, where I'm expected to stay awake for long enough to get on the correct plane, and if all goes to plan, I'll land in Hong Kong just in time for lunch! Good plan eh?
After a couple of weeks holiday/nephew sitting/sight seeing/etc I jet off to Cairns (home of the Great Barrier Reef) where I start the mission of getting a good tan. I'm planning a leisurely wander down the East coast to be in Sydney for Crimbo... perhaps learning to surf, getting a walk-on part in Neighbours.... or whatever appeals on the way!
At this point the camera fades out.... then fades in next April (ish) where I can be found on a plane to New Zealand. Once settled it's off to see the boiling mud plains, jump from a few planes, bungie some bridges, do some white water drowning - yep, all the usual things.
Then, when I've had enough of the high life (or 3 months later, whatever comes first)..... it's off to Fiji to veg (and top up the tan) then on to Hawaii to veg a bit more (and top the tan up a little more) then on to the good ole US of A to meet Mickey Mouse and, in good movie tradition, become president (or something equally unbelievable!)
So that, in a nutshell, is my plan for the next year!
