ROACH IN MINI SUCCESS

Billed as 'The Magazine for the Mighty Mini', Mini World is not unsurprisingly all about Minis.

However beneath the pages of its glossy facade lie many articles - many of which are, granted, about minis and people who drive them.

But - and we're getting closer now to the truth - in one of those articles in the Jan 1998 edition we find the man who, famed not only for being the first Madhatter to own a Porsche, is equally famous for being the first Madhatter to crash one.

Taking part in the second season of Mighty Minis racing, Sam, features heavily in the 5 page special. Described here at the scenic Oulton Park in Cheshire, "Roach managed to beat Cable after a frantic battle, a run of form that would see him go on to win the final two races at Mallory and Caldwell. Roach also set three fastest laps in a row showing he clearly had the quickest car out there by the seasons end".

If all that leaves your pulse racing and your throttle racing and ready for action then good. If we all chip in a few quid perhaps we could persuade Sam to race in the future with 'Team Madhatters' emblazoned on his shiny helmet, sorry bonnet.

Watch out for Sam's progress next season...
