Hi guys - just wondered if anyone had the balls to do a review of the game yet - good pictures by the way.

Great Game. How about the next one (October?) being Madhatters v Crown (promotion kings) Reserves - oh yes, . We could even play on grass! Corrr.

Dave
What do you mean 2 years - some of us will have our best years behind us then - how about October?

I have to say congratulations to the ROTW. A fine performance led by Pete, but good performances all round. It was a great game to be involved in, better than the previous one-sided afair when Dave Wid captained despite the result. We had the chances to win it, but spurned them and some excellent saves from Nick, 1-1 in the Herts ROTW battle. 2years time we'll have another with an even more ageing squad. If anyone is interested in playing Sunday mornings in St Albans for the Championship winning Crown Reserves (who spawned Miles, Chiff, Darren and my good self on Sunday) give me a shout. Cheers everyone who came to watch too, I hope it wasn't too dire a spectacle

Captains' Log..Stardate 01072000...I would just like to thank all my team for the effort and commitment they gave....in particular Pete Butler and Miles who had outstanding games....well done also to Millsy on a great goal & unlucky to Johnny Meares on nearly scoring after a fantastic move..I would also like to pay tribute to a great adversary..Roughty ...who led by example...Dave I hope your head is OK, well done on gettin a brace. Finally the most enduring memory was after the final whistle was Dave Wid's cherubic smile...and singing Championees, Champinonees, ole, ole ole.. Once again thanks to the lads and I'm sure we'll do it again soon once my legs have recovered!

Cheers guys - shall be fun just to watch and catch up

Can I just say what a pleasure it will be to finally play alongside the great Ken Rodrigues. Ken, I looked up to you so much as a child and feel wholly unworthy to be sharing the same piece of astroturf with you! (Somewhere on the right would be great mate!)

Even though the team is over subscribed...bring a pair of trainers..we'll try and squeeze you in as a sub.....

Sorry Bill, you're not eligible for the Herts team, and we are full anyway. Ken is your best bet for the ROTW team (as captain) however he did tell me yesterday that he was struggling to accommodate everyone to give everyone a game. Might be a bit late I'm afraid, perhaps it will teach you to check the site more regularly!

Position: Left Back, Left Midfield, anywher infact as long as it's LEFT!!!

Come on -with the Big Game only 6 days away this site should be hot than a hot plate on the hottest day of the year (er, of the Clan McHot). But it's not. C'mon!

Left midfield (none of those "left back in the changing room" jokes thank you).

LATE TEAM NEWS: Slinger now available to ROTW XI. Captain Ken (who I know doesn't want to be captain - but simply must be!) stick that on your team sheet. Right, I take it everyone is going to be able to get there on time. Andy and I will do some final reminders this week and POST THE TEAM LISTS up on this site. Could everyone indicate (roughly) their preferred team positions. Please contact me about any special arrangements, i.e. if you need to stay over, etc.

At least Burgess won't be able to break my ankle again this time then.
Posted on: 22/6/2000, 12:10
Dave Patrick
Well, the boy Burges out with a broken fibula, that's got to be savage news for the ROTW team, especially given his recent run of form, er, yes. No Bruce Maclean either but with Ken bringing his two boys and Andy getting a couple of Crown reserves we've easily got the 22.
Posted on: 22/6/2000, 10:14

I don't really want to know about your deposits Dave Wid. Things are shaping up well for the Herts XI, I sense another hiding for ROTW. We have a secret weapon in the boy Bennett. Devastating.

Message for Dave Wid...what position does Noff play in & is he healthy!
Posted on: 20/6/2000, 16:20

And the latest on the injury worry of the ROTW. Yep - Si's fractured his fibula, just above the ankle and will be out for at least 4 weeks probably eight. Bollocks again.

Some team news. And disasterous news from the ROTW camp. Apparently influential midfield player and sometime goalkeeper Simon "Cat" Burges has twisted his ankle in training and looks likely to miss the July 1st clash. Asked how he felt about the injury, he commented, "Bollocks!"

I will stay wi'yee, my old chum. Noff also said that he may come. But the man cannot be trusted, since his auntie was.......oh I cant be arsed. Thanks Davey, love to stay. Noff should come though he is proving particularly vague at the moment. Looking forward to the weekend, though it looks like we may not be watching England in the final on the Sunday. Another Idea - any chance of setting up both Herts11 & ROTW private chat rooms to discuss tactics? Could we trust you not to worm your way in to the ROTW room? PS - I may even deliver you my deposit in person...........
Posted on: 14/6/2000, 16:3

So Mr Wild - is Noff gonna play? Are you coming down - would you like to stay?
Posted on: 14/6/2000, 10:35

Will do Davey Pee....Dave Wid, how right you were about the Neville donkeys!
Posted on: 13/6/2000, 10:21
Dave
Ken, can you confirm with your mates - and bring them along
Posted on: 12/6/2000, 14:14
John Meares
Of course I will be willing and 'able' to commit my football services to the Rest of the World 11. With my new fitness regime, you and the Herts boys better be ready for a great deal of footy pressure.
Posted on: 7/6/2000, 14:38
Ken
Hi Davey Pee...I have two more names for the ROTW XI..Pete Butler & Andy Hunt..cheers ken
Posted on: 6/6/2000, 15:31
Dave Wid
The mysterious Noff may be able to make it. May he be an honoury Madhatter for the day, so we can hear his chicken sandwich story just one more time and because, well the ROTW seems to need a few players to fill out its numbers......? (when he was at school he was quite handy with a tennis ball.....)
Posted on: 6/6/2000, 12:57
Dave
Not quite Ken, but ten out ot ten for spotting the film star reference. Now, we've got Les Dennis up front, Billy Bragg on the wing (left, naturally) and Melvyn Bragg, oh bollocks
Posted on: 6/6/2000, 12:25
Ken
Ed Harris? Star of The Abyss?
Posted on: 6/6/2000, 9:42
Mat Tarrant
Count me in but I may need a reminder a little nearer the date. Cheers
Posted on: 5/6/2000, 22:39
Chris Evans
Count me in. Now a rest of the world player. Probably the only person from Reading that can say that.
Posted on: 5/6/2000, 22:37
Phil Miller
Yep, you can count me in for the game! Wouldn't miss it! See you soon.
Posted on: 5/6/2000, 22:37
Julian Wathen
Unlikely to make this one - just had a knee-op - tore my left ACL (cruciate ligament) Gascoigne Style, and a bit of cartilage - so no running about for me for a while... Altho' I'm tempted...
Posted on: 5/6/2000, 22:36

Sadly I will not be able to make the game. Oddly enough Saturday will be the final night of the current play that I'm in! "Oh god darling, whot it is to be on stage!" See you in the summer
Posted on: 5/6/2000, 22:35
Warren Sweeting
I'll be there......will the boy benson still continue to have weak tackle in the box and more often than not shoot too early?
Posted on: 5/6/2000, 22:35
Le Burge
Sorry, Dave. Enfield is in Middlesex (re Steve French) but as the ROTW already has the mighty Nick Mahon for goalkeeping duties perhaps you could rule that as Middlesex doesn't really exist then Herts is the logical choice for the the boy French and his unique style of chat
Posted on: 5/6/2000, 10:9
Dave Wid
Good job the Neville donkeys are away that weekend......
Posted on: 2/6/2000, 13:11

No problem in getting a few players for ROTW XI...just been to Old Trafford to do a commercial with Sir Alex...met a few of his players up there..seemed to have a bit of talent & with a bit of persuasion might be up for it!!
Posted on: 2/6/2000, 9:10

STOP. News, just in Steve Phipps up and ready for action. STOP.
Posted on: 2/6/2000, 0:11

What do you mean Ken? There's certainly not going to be a problem getting 22 fit Madhatters on a pitch at the same time... mind you if you do have some friends for back-up that might be handy!
Posted on: 1/6/2000, 17:24
Ken
It would be an honour to play alongside the Wid in the ROTW XI.........if we can get XI!!!
Posted on: 1/6/2000, 13:16

Also, Steve French is up for goalkeeping duties again - he lives in Enfield - think that's Herts. Monsieur Le Burges is up for it on ROTW XI and so is Nick Mahon. Haven't heard from the Miller yet. C'mon...
Posted on: 1/6/2000, 0:49
Dave
Ah, I figured the wrath of Wid would rear it's head sooner or later. So, more team news, Herts have got Mat Tarrant, Rob Slinger can't make it and it's even rumoured that Sam Roach may be donning a strip! ROTW XI have a confirmed Benson. Anyone know about Hatherley?
Posted on: 1/6/2000, 0:47
Dave Wid
Oi - dont go pissing about with the rules Roughty - if he aint in Hertfordshire he aint in your side. Thats why thay call it Herts XI. You'll be trying to sign Zola Budd next.......
Posted on: 30/5/2000, 11:19

Indeed there is the possiblility of wearing the (Championship winning) strip of the mighty Crown Reserves. However, before I confirm you need to change the Hertfordshire born and bred Kenny Rogers into the Hertfordshire team.
Posted on: 25/5/100, 14:41

Sorry if it seems to be me updating these pages all the time but anyway, I've just been out for a drink with Rich Sully who is more than up for bolstering the Herts team. Excellent...

Oh yeah, erm Stu Lerks and John Meares are up for it... no Nathan Dawe though. And the big lad Sweeting?

Count me in Roughty... so is there any truth in the rumour that the Crown Reserve replica kits are being used again?
