What's New
THE NEW MH PICS IMAGE LIBRARY -
May 2006
Using Flickr.com (a service from Yahoo) we have started an online library of Madhatters pictures and shots from over the years. Anyone can join the group and post up a picture. The beauty of this service is that users can comment on individual pictures or start discussions. When a picture is added to the group it will automatically refresh the home page. We have integrated a panel onto the home page (using RSS feed technology) that displays the latest pictures. For more information on the group:

ADD A WEB SITE
RECOMMENDATION -
September 2002
Added a new feature which lets
Madhatters recommend web sites that are groovy, cool or of general
use to the MH community.
PICTURE LIBRARY -
August 2002
The Picture Library features
picture folders from some of the more recent Madhatters events.
It's cool and quite easy now to put up photos from entire events
on the site. If you have any pics to put up send them to
info@madhatters.org.uk
POLLS -
November 2000
In a fit of Trago Mills frenzy,
the Trago Poll was added to the site to find out how people really
feel about The West Country's best tat market. Have a look at the Polls
page.
JESUSIFY BUTTON -
September 2000
So the coolest thing that ever
was, the Jesusify button will turn the chat on the home page into
glorified ranting from the dawn of Christianity. Also check out The
News in Cockney.
BIRTHDAYS PAGE -
September 2000
Does exactly what it says.
Leave the details of your birthday here
and never again have to worry if you've told anyone. Now, there's
no excuse if you don't get any cards it just means you're
unpopular. Sorry.
SEARCH ENGINE -
September 2000
Now you can Search throughout
the whole site at a trice. Simply enter the description of your
choice in the Search box and voilla.
LEAVE YOUR COMMENTS
ON THE SHOWS - August
2000
Leave your comments on the
shows all you have to do is select The Show that you
want to comment on and fill in the message box. Your comments are
added to the page in real-time. Cool, eh.
YOUR NEWS - May
2000
As from the end of May you are able to add your own news stories
to the site. This includes scope for putting pictures on to the
Madhatters site also. And the even better new is - all you to do
this is a web browser, that's it. If you have an article to
add, if you are doing a show, if you are getting married, having a
baby, just plain bored, whatever - tell someone about it!
It will just take 5
mins to get started - all you have to do is contact us and we will
e-mail you the administration details. You can do this by
e-mailing us at madhatters
to set you up. If you are really impatient and want
to do it immediately, just ring Dave on 07932 004696. The
important thing is that you just do it.
NEW SITE LAUNCH
-
End of May 2000
The
Madhatters site is changing, as most of you know Dave
Patrick has edited the site and newsletter for the last five
years. Now with the help of some late nights and the programming
boys at Realtouch
for the first time we are looking at really making the web work
for everyone involved in Madhatters.
As more and more
people get online (including most Madhatters now) the MH Editorial
committee agreed that rather than relying on the printed version
of Madhatters for regular news (something that has happened less
and less frequently of late), it would be much better if we could
devote our time into making the web site work better for everyone.
The launch of this new site takes us a long way down that road.
How? Well for the
first time in the 4 year history of the site. YOU, are now in
control of the content of the site. In fact, you can add, edit or
delete your own news stories just by visiting the special NEWS
administration page.
There's plenty more in
the pipeline too, as the technology improves there are more
opportunities for new developments. In the next few years I hope
we will start a picture gallery, give everyone a password
protected place to keep contact details up to date (for our
records only) and put some streaming video and audio online, so
the folks at UAC films and Vantage pictures amongst others can
show their latest offerings.
And more importantly -
this will extend to anyone and everyone who's ever been a
Madhatter, a friend of a Madhatter, or is just a thoroughly good
laugh. What we are all hoping to build here is a community of like
minded, fun people who will stay in touch for the forseeable
future. I hope this fits in with your ideal of where we should be
aiming! It's always great to know that it's here... yes people do
move away, but they come back and in actual fact we now have
nearly 150 of you involved.
This year, more than
any other, we are doing some great activities and reunion events.
Future years will see more '32hr (or whatever) Drama challenges',
Weekends away, Daft Football games, anything... and that's great.
Now some years after most of us left Hatfield and the vicinity, we
seem to be all still in touch - and at least some of that is down
to the success of what we (as Madhatters) started in 1994. The
important thing is that if you ever feel lonely, if you ever have
any world shattering ideas that you want to share, if you ever
want some people to go out and get drunk with; the Madhatters
grapevine will be there for you - and we think that's alright!
Finally, Dave would
like to thank Jon Greaves for his time and effort to help make the
clever bits of this site work.
